Straw Marquetry.
Many of my pieces feature straw marquetry, a technique I learnt in Paris. Straw marquetry (marqueterie de paille in French) is a decorative technique that has been used for centuries, most notably in the 1920s and 30s. Dyed rye straw is flattened and applied in a variety of patterns that show off the natural reflections and variations of the straw.
